Blueberry Banana Reminder
by posted 05/15/2021

 Hello Parents and Players.

Both our Lightning and Junior teams played amazing today. The players are playing the right way. They run hard, pass to the open player and play defense. Both teams also dominated the ground balls!!!!

Tomorrow is the Blueberry Banana rematch. ALL Lightning and Junior players should attend. Looks like a great day for some lacrosse.

Blueberry Banana Game Part 2
by posted 05/10/2021

Hello Parents and Players,

Based on the great feedback received and the great effort put forth by the players in our last Blueberry vs. Banana game, we will be having a second Blueberry vs. Banana game this Sunday, May 16 at 10:00 am at the field in Bantam.

Given how close the last overtime thriller was, we will keep the same rosters for this game.

The Lightning Players are getting more and more comfortable playing with the Juniors in practice.  My hope is that they will continue to assert themselves and find some success in this Blueberry Banana game this weekend.

Both teams have joint practices this Tuesday and Thursday and both have a home game on Saturday.

Looks like great weather this week.  I look forward to seeing everyone this week and this weekend.

For Juniors, the split squad roster for Saturday's game will come out either tomorrow or Wednesday.

Thank you.

Hello Parents and Players,

Yesterday was a tale of two halves. In the first half we were a little sluggish; especially mentally. And, our second half was AMAZING. The best we have played by far all season. Defense was great. Offense was great. Jack O'Connor played great defense on the other team's best player. Teddy Kowalchick created offense by riding like a crazy person!!!  Eli Tendler played amazing on ball and team defense!!!

I will send out an updated roster for next Saturday's game during the week.  The smaller game roster did make yesterday more productive. Next Sunday we will have another Blueberry Banana game.  I will send another blast on that subject to both Lightning's and Junior's later today.

One reminder, it is tick season and the Bantam field is full of them. Please do a tick check before getting back in the car after practice.

And, again, Happy Mother's Day to all the moms!!!

Hello Parents and Players:

The Blueberry vs Banana Bowl was AMAZING.  The players played great.  The Bananas won in overtime.  I am told Griffin Hawley scored 8 goals for the Bananas.  Clearly the MVP!!!!  When Griffin RUNS he is mostly unstoppable!!!!  The best part was that our players played the right way throughout the game.  I hope the players enjoyed it as much as the coaches did.  We will have a Blueberry vs. Banana Bowl Rematch on Sunday May 16.  Details to follow.

This week we play Danbury on Saturday at 11:00.  This is the first week where we are playing with a reduced squad size.  It is wonderful that we have over 25 players on the team; however, it makes game management very difficult.  The split squad approach should provide greater quality opportunity for the players.  This is also why we are adding the Blueberry vs Banana games to ensure that all players are provided ample opportunity to compete and improve.  Please review the list below. If your player is not on this list they are not expected to attend the game.  If your player is on this list and cannot attend please let me know so I may invite another player.  Thank you all in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

Saturday May 8 at Danbury

Gambit Abbenante

Carl Allen

Cooper Bunce

Zach Calore

Nick Coleman

Sebastian Duckworth

James Farrington

Apollo Kabelka

Teddy Kowalchick

Jacob Langevin

Patrick Lufkin

Jack O'Connor

Sam Paletsky

Rad Saulnier

Derrick Strub

Eli Tendler

Thank you.

Litchfield Hills Youth Lacrosse:  COVID Protocol, 2021 Season

In order to play the 2021 lacrosse season, the following protocols must be followed by coaches, players, and parents:

Player Responsibilities:
1  All players will wear masks when they come to and from the fields and while on the bench.  Masks will not be required during the flow of the game.
2 Players will do their best to socially distance (while masked) on the benches by maintaining a minimum of three feet distance, as feasible.
3 Players will supply their own water bottles.  Water bottles are not to be shared under any circumstances.
4 Players will not share equipment.
5 Players will not attend team functions if they have any symptoms on the COVID checklist.
6 Any player that misses a team function because of illness may only return to practice if they:
have a doctor’s note clearing them to play, OR
have a negative PCR COVID test
7 Players will report to their coach if they have been contact-traced or considered a close contact for a COVID-positive individual at their school, family, work, etc.
8 Players will report to the coach if they have received a positive COVID test.
9 10% of High School players (chosen at random) will obtain a negative COVID test in weeks where our opponents require such a test.

Coaches Responsibilities:
1 Coaches will wear masks while coaching and on the benches.
2 Coaches will take and maintain attendance for all practices and games using the COVID checklist.
3 Coaches will respect the wishes of our opponents regarding COVID protocol.  (This includes players wearing masks on the field if our opponents request that protocol.)
4 Coaches will enforce player responsibilities, including mask-wearing, equipment sharing, etc.

Family / Spectator Responsibilities:
1 Family units (who live in the same household) may watch the games, unmasked and without social distancing, as long as they are six feet away from other spectators.
2 Spectators must be masked walking to and from the fields.
3 Spectators must stay at least six feet apart while watching the game unmasked.  If this is not possible, masks must be worn.
