Important club news

Dear Litchfield Hills athletes and families:

As the 2021 season closes out, it is important to share some significant news with all of you.  This season represents the final season in which Jeff Porter and John Long will serve as President and Vice President of Litchfield Hills Youth Lacrosse respectively.  Jeff and John have been in their current roles for a substantial amount of time and both feel that this is an appropriate time to turn over the reins to new leadership for next season and the future.  While they both will remain on the board as “at large” members to help with any questions or transitional issues that may arise, they will no longer manage the everyday operations of the program.  Additionally, we have a number of other Board members who also plan on remaining on the Board during this transition time, but have served for many years in their roles.

In turn, this is where our membership will need to step in to help.  Jeff and John have handled a significant portion of the daily running of this program, and we have decided that it may be best to split their duties up into smaller, more manageable roles.  In turn, we will need volunteers for our Board as well as people who are willing to take on some smaller tasks.  These are the positions we hope to fill:

Vice President

Boys Scheduler (Youth and High School)

Girls Scheduler (Youth and High School)

Boys Coach Coordinator

Girls Coach Coordinator

Referee Coordinator

CONNY Representative

Uniform Management and Distribution

Merchandise Coordinator

Field Procurement/Manager

Field Maintenance (including initial field layout & lining)

If you feel comfortable stepping into any of these roles, or combination thereof, or would simply like to know more specifics of each position, please feel free to respond to this email.  We will be happy to answer any questions and / or describe the processes involved and expectations of each role.

Please keep in mind that the overwhelming success of our program depends greatly on volunteers stepping up to fill these positions.

Thank you in advance for your willingness to help keep Litchfield Hills Lacrosse the best sports program around!

High School teams

We frequently get questions about our High School "club" teams.
Litchfield Hills offers both a boys and a girls high school lacrosse team for high school students from our area to be able to play. Many high schools in our immediate area do not offer lacrosse as a school sport. Additionally, students who may play a different spring sport for their school can still be able to play high school lacrosse. (Check with your school's athletics rules).

Students in CIAC member schools may not play lacrosse for their school team AND for our team.

We play against other club programs, and local private and public schools.
Players in our programs come from:
Holy Cross
(offers a boys team)

Housatonic Valley (offers a girls team)
Nonnewaug (has a boys club team like ours, but not girls)

Our teams are not "club teams" by today's definition (pay-to-play "elite" programs) - We are more like a park and rec type regional club team.
